This policy explains what Vintrail collects, why, and the choices you have. In short: you can look up vehicles without an account, an account stores only what a watchlist needs, and we do not sell your personal data.

What we collect

• Lookups. The VIN or lot number you search, so we can return a record. Anonymous lookups are not tied to a person.
• Account details. If you sign up, your email address and sign-in method.
• Watchlist. The VINs you save to your private list.
• Technical data. Standard server logs and basic, aggregate usage counts used to keep the site working and measure load.

Why we collect it

We use this data to return records you ask for, to run your account and watchlist, to keep the service secure and available, and to understand which pages are used so we can improve them. We do not build advertising profiles.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent your personal data.
• We do not share your watchlist or email with third parties for their marketing.
• We do not track you across other websites.

Service providers

We use a small number of infrastructure providers to host the site, store data and send account email. They process data only to run the service on our behalf, under their own security and privacy obligations.

Cookies

We use the minimum cookies needed to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Retention

Account data is kept while your account is open. Anonymous lookup and log data is kept only as long as needed to run and secure the service, then removed or aggregated.

Your choices

You can view and change your watchlist at any time while signed in. You can ask us to delete your account and the personal data attached to it. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights to access, correct or export your data.

Vehicle records and people

Vehicle records describe vehicles, not their current owners, and we do not link a record to a named individual. If a public record contains information you believe should not appear, you can contact us to review it.

Children

The site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect their data.

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date above shows the last revision.
